| Day 1:
FLIGHT TO ANCHORAGE / WHITTIER / CARNIVAL’S SPIRIT: Our amazing cruise adventure begins with a flight to Anchorage , Alaska ’s largest city. Upon arrival, we will be transported to Whittier where we board the amazing new Spirit, one of Carnival’s premier vessels. If you would like to see more of interior Alaska , read the details following the cruise for a 3-Night pre-cruise option.
Day 2: CRUISE PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND / COLLEGE FJORD: Spectacular scenery awaits us today as we enter Prince William Sound . The waters are alive with sea otters, sea lions, seals, porpoise, orca and giant humpback whales. Large populations of sea-fowl also make their home in Prince William Sound . We'll pass dramatic fjords draped with cascading waterfalls and spectacular alpine glaciers. We see College Fjord, an inspiring waterway that features sixteen sparkling glaciers.
Day 3:
SITKA : This morning we arrive in Sitka , the only major city on Alaska 's Baranof Island . Sitka is the beneficiary of three distinct cultures: Tlingit Indian, Russian and American. You'll find relics of all three cultures throughout the area. With the spectacular natural beauty of Sitka Sound, its fascinating history, unique totem park and Mount Edgecomb , a dormant volcano which rises above the harbor, Sitka is definitely a treasure in the Alaskan wilderness.
| Day 4: JUNEAU : Arise this morning in the capital city of Juneau . Juneau (pop. 29,000) is nestled between towering Mt. Juneau and Gastineau Channel. The city combines modern architecture with the renovated structures of the Gold Rush Historic District. Of course, you will probably want to make an optional visit to the area's premier attraction, Mendenhall Glacier-the most accessible glacier in Southeast Alaska . The glacier towers more than 100 feet above the surface of Mendenhall Lake , forming an ice pack over 200 feet deep! |
Day 5: SKAGWAY / CRUISE LYNN CANAL : Relive the rowdy Gold Rush days. In 1898, when 20,000 prospectors passed through town in search of Klondike gold, this was perhaps Alaska 's most thriving community. The era's history has been carefully preserved in Skagway 's storefronts. Vintage street-car tours take passengers through the restored and tightly-packed town. Skagway still retains the look and feel of its mining past with board sidewalks, high-kicking cancan girls, and the largest gold nugget in the world! Next we enjoy the beauty of Lynn Canal --67 breath-taking miles of forests, wildlife and snow-capped mountains. It's one of the great highlights of any Inside Passage cruise.
Day 6: KETCHIKAN : This town is undoubtedly home to some of the most amazing native culture in the world. Now the fourth largest city in Alaska , it is perched on the shores of Ketchikan Creek and the Tongass Narrows . Here you'll find the largest totem collection in the world, dance and craft demonstrations and great artifact exhibits.
| Day 7: CRUISE THE INSIDE PASSAGE: We spend the entire day at sea in the heart of the Inside Passage . Craggy mountains, waterfalls, fjords and abundant wildlife make for non-stop photo opportunities. The spectacular scenery makes it hard to pull one's self away for meals, but be sure to make time. Spirit's eager staff serves sumptuous cuisine at almost any hour of the day! |
| Day 8: VANCOUVER : This morning we disembark Spirit in the beautiful city of Vancouver , British Columbia . We are transported to the airport for our flight home.
