Day 1: 1 TENNESSEE VALLEY / SHENANDOAH VALLEY / VIRGINIA, VA: -- : Our New England tour begins as our tour director greets us. The colors of fall start to unfold in all their radiant beauty as we travel northeast through the hills of Tennessee and into the beautiful Shenandoah Valley for our overnight stay.

Day 2: ANNAPOLIS, MD / U. S. NAVAL ACADEMY / BALTIMORE, MD: -- Our route takes us the length of the colorful Blue Ridge Mountains. This afternoon we will tour the impressive and beautiful campus of the US Naval Academy, which is located right on the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis. Founded in 1845, the USNA is home to 4,000 of our country’s future naval leaders. As you tour this beautiful campus, you will experience the sense of military tradition and heritage everywhere. Our accommodations are in the Baltimore area.
Day 3: KENNETT, PA / LONGWOOD GARDENS & HOME / DINNER @ THE TAFT / CONNECTICUT: -- We visit world-famous Longwood Gardens and Home, the former estate of Pierre du Pont. There are four acres of glass-enclosed conservatories filled with manicured flower gardens, beautiful fountains, and more than 14,000 different plants on display. We will travel into Connecticut for our night’s lodging. A special dinner is included at the fabulous Taft restaurant. (D)

Day 4: NEWPORT, RI / TEN MILE DRIVE / THE BREAKERS / DINNER / CAPE COD: -- In Newport we’ll travel along the acclaimed “Ten Mile Drive.” Winding slowly through the exquisite estates of the “400,” we’ll marvel at the grandeur of the magnificent homes and impeccable grounds. Then we’ll visit “The Breakers,” a 70-room mansion built for Cornelius Vanderbilt in 1895 and considered the most elaborate of all the Newport homes. Our accommodations for the next four nights are in Cape Cod.

Day 5: HYANNIS / FERRY RIDE / MARTHA’S VINEYARD / EDGARTOWN / NEW ENGLAND LOBSTER DINNER / CAPE COD: -- Today we tour Hyannis, including the John F Kennedy Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and view St. Francis Xavier Church, the summer parish of the Kennedy Family. We’ll go by ferry to Martha’s Vineyard where a local bus takes us on the Down Island Tour. Travel throughout the villages learning about the history and lifestyles of the islanders. There will be free time for lunch and shopping in the historic whaling port of Edgartown. Complete your Martha’s Vineyard experience with a walking tour of the “Gingerbread Cottages” before our ferry cruise back. A lobster dinner experience is included this evening. (D)

Day 6: CHATHAM LIGHTHOUSE / WHALE WATCHING / CAPE COD: -- Today we travel to the “south side” of the Cape to the seaside village of Chatham. You will see the Chatham Lighthouse, a lifesaving beacon for sailors throughout the Cape’s history. Stroll along Main Street, an exclusive mile of specialty shops. This afternoon we board an excursion vessel for an amazing experience of Whale Watching. We will travel into the natural habitat of a diverse marine environment. Try to spot Humpback, Minke, and Fin Whales going about their daily business. An onboard naturalist will introduce you to everything you see – whales, birds, fish, and lighthouses. A box lunch is included. (BL)

Day 7: PLYMOUTH ROCK / MAYFLOWER II / PLIMOTH PLANTATION / CAPE COD: -- In Plymouth we will visit Plymouth Rock where the Pilgrim’s landed in 1620, then board a replica of the Mayflower to see what life on the seas was like for the early pilgrims. Plimoth Plantation, a living history village recreating life in 1627 Plymouth, is alive with costumed people in 17th century attire portraying actual residents of the period.
Day 8: USS CONSTITUTION / BOSTON CITY TOUR / LUNCH @ NO NAME / QUINCY MARKET: -- AA local guide joins us today for a tour highlighting the historical sites of Boston. See Boston Common, the oldest public park in the country where witches were hanged and “common scolds” were dunked in the pond. Visit the Old State House where the Declaration of Independence was first read to the citizens of Boston. See Old North Church from whose tall steeple Robert Newman hung two lanterns that started Paul Revere’s famous ride. A seafood lunch is included at No Name Restaurant. This afternoon we visit the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, dedicated to the memory of our thirty-fifth president, before continuing to Milford and our overnight accommodations. Day 9: NEW YORK CITY TOUR / EMPIRE STATE BUILDING / BROADWAY SHOW / NEW YORK, NY: -- Today we enter New York City where our local guide will show us the highlights. See the famous East Side of Central Park where many celebrities have made their homes. Traveling down Fifth Avenue takes us past the Plaza Hotel, FAO Schwartz, Saks, and other fine stores. See St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Rockefeller Center. A stop will be made at Ground Zero and St. Paul’s Chapel, which served as a refuge for recovery workers at the WTC site. We’ll drive through the Financial District, home of Wall Street and the Commodities Exchange. Then, from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, we’ll have a bird’s eye view of the city. A spectacular Broadway musical is included this evening.

Day 10: ELLIS ISLAND / STATUE OF LIBERTY / WINCHESTER, VA: -- Sightseeing begins early this morning with a ferry ride to Liberty State Park, the Immigration Museum at Ellis Island – a testament to the more than 14 million immigrants who came into the United States in search of the American dream. We depart New York making our way to Winchester, VA for the night.

Day 11: VIRGINIA FARM MARKET / FAREWELL DINNER @ GREENWAY HAVEN / ABINGDON, VA: -- At the Virginia Farm Market we can stock up on a variety of fresh picked apples, baked pies, and squeeze-your-own cider. This day of travel concludes at a farewell dinner at Greenway Haven, a stately setting to reminisce about all the excitement we have experienced on our Cape Cod journey. Tonight, we stay in Abingdon.
Day 12: HOME: -- As we near home, our anticipation mounts. Soon, we will be sharing stories and pictures with family and friends of all the spectacular fall foliage, beautiful harbor towns, and our historical trips back in time.
