Day 2: HISTORIC DISTRICT TOUR / BONADVENTURE CEMETERY / FREE TIME ON RIVER STREET / CATHEDRAL OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST / OWENS THOMAS HOUSE / DINNER @ LADY & SONS RESTAURANT / SAVANNAH, GA: -- On our tour of Savannah’s Historic District we will see a wealth of architectural simplicity, the indescribable charm of its streets and buildings, parks and squares. Laid out in 1733 by General James Oglethorpe, Savannah is the first master planned community in America. After a walking tour of Bonaventure Cemetery, there will be free time on River Street. This afternoon our tour continues with stops at Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist and Owens Thomas House. The architecture of the massive Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is a sight to behold. The Owens Thomas house is considered one of the finest examples of “Regency” architectural styles in the nation. Learn the stories of slaves who lived and worked in Savannah. A dinner is included at Paula Dean’s Lady & Sons Restaurant. (B, D)
Day 3: BULL RIVER ECO-ADVENTURE CRUISE / FREE TIME ON TYBEE ISLAND / DINNER @ MRS. WILKES BOARDING HOUSE / SAVANNAH THEATRE / SAVANNAH, GA: -- Our motorcoach will wind its way through the Savannah Low Country to Bull River where we board our boat. The Eco-Adventure Cruise is a signature cruise traveling Bull River to the barrier islands. Along this narrated cruise we will see salt marshes, learn about marshland and tidal river ecology, learn the history of the pristine wonders of the barrier islands, and watch dolphins at play. Enjoy lunch (on your own) and free time on Tybee Island before returning to our hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to enjoy. Get ready for a big evening beginning with an included dinner at Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House. Then enjoy a performance at the historic Savannah Theatre. The Theatre gives its best to Broadway as they perform show stopping hit songs from everyone’s favorite musicals. The show features classic dance routines and comic re-creations of some of the most beloved moments in Broadway history. (B, D)
Day 4: ANNISTON, AL / LUNCH @ CLASSIC ON NOBLE: -- We bid farewell to this treasure of the Old South; we’ve traveled the quilt-like squares viewing elegant homes and architectural simplicity.
